10 FC 27 Career Mode Challenges: Youth, Budget & Rebuilds
Try £5m transfer limits, academy-only saves, over-30 signings and free-agent rebuilds. Ten original house-rule challenges with targets and harder variations.
Choose your rules before kick-off
Pick a challenge, a club profile and either the standard or harder version. Write down the start date, season limit, squad update and gameplay difficulty. Keep the same restrictions through the save.
For money challenges, use GBP in your save so the £5m limit is unambiguous. No financial takeovers or pre-save squad editing. Unless a challenge says otherwise, existing players can stay and academy promotions are allowed.
01 / Budget · Medium
The £5 Million Ceiling
Start with: A mid-table European top-flight club outside continental competition.
The rules
- Spend no more than £5m on any one incoming player. There is no separate seasonal cap, but you must stay within your club’s available funds.
- Include cash, agreed add-ons and the displayed value of any outgoing swap player in the £5m limit.
- Loans and free agents are allowed. Loan fees count towards the same player’s cap; an eventual purchase must also fit within it.
Complete it: Qualify for a European club competition by the end of season five.
Make it harder: Drop the per-player cap to £2m.
02 / Young players · Medium
Under-24 Revolution
Start with: A top-flight club with room to develop a younger squad.
The rules
- Only bring in players aged 23 or younger on their arrival date. This includes loans and free agents.
- Existing older players can stay. A player signed within the limit can grow older without being sold.
- Academy promotions are allowed. Check arrival age again for delayed transfers.
Complete it: Win your top-flight league within five seasons.
Make it harder: By the start of season three, every player in your matchday squad must be under 24; ageing out then requires replacement.
03 / Youth development · Hard
Academy Only
Start with: A lower-division club whose existing squad can cover the first season.
The rules
- No incoming transfers, loans or free agents. All new permanent additions must be promoted from your own youth academy.
- Keep your initial senior squad while building the academy. Players already loaned out by your club may return; existing loan-ins may finish their current deals but cannot be renewed or bought.
- Do not move players into the club before starting the save. Youth scouting and senior contract renewals are allowed.
Complete it: Within five seasons, win promotion or a major trophy with at least six of your own academy graduates starting the match that clinches it.
Make it harder: Start every competitive match in season three onwards with at least six academy graduates.
04 / Veterans · Medium
The Last Dance
Start with: A top-flight club with wages available and a realistic cup opportunity.
The rules
- Only sign or borrow players aged 30 or older when they arrive.
- Existing younger players can stay. Do not promote academy players into the senior squad during this challenge.
- Free agents are allowed if they meet the age rule. Renewing existing contracts is allowed.
Complete it: Win a top-flight league, main domestic cup or continental trophy within three seasons.
Make it harder: From season two, every starting XI must consist entirely of players aged 30 or older.
05 / No transfer fees · Hard
Free Agent FC
Start with: A lower-division club, or a European top-flight club outside continental competition.
The rules
- Only recruit players shown as unattached when negotiations begin. Confirm they remain unattached when joining.
- No paid transfers, loans or pre-contract deals with players who are still employed by another club.
- Keep the starting squad and allow contract renewals. No new academy promotions, so the recruitment challenge stays focused on free agents.
Complete it: Within four seasons, earn promotion from a lower division or qualify for Europe from a top flight. Pick your target before starting.
Make it harder: Limit every new signing’s weekly wage to that of your highest-paid player on day one.
06 / Transfer profit · Hard
Sell to Survive
Start with: A club with saleable players and enough depth to survive a departure.
The rules
- Start with a spending allowance of zero. Each season, add only 50% of completed player-sale receipts to it.
- Deduct incoming transfer fees, agreed add-ons and loan fees. No player swaps or takeover funds. Unspent allowance resets to zero each new season.
- Wages and bonuses must fit the game’s own budget. Free agents and academy promotions are allowed.
Complete it: Win a major trophy within five seasons while keeping cumulative sale receipts greater than incoming transfer and loan fees.
Make it harder: Reinvest only 25% of sale receipts.
07 / Squad identity · Medium
One-Nation XI
Start with: Any club with a useful starting core from your chosen nation.
The rules
- Choose one nationality before starting. Every new transfer, loan, free agent and academy promotion must have that nationality as displayed in your save.
- Existing players of other nationalities can stay while you rebuild.
- Use the nationality shown in the game; do not assume eligibility from ancestry or a second nationality not shown there.
Complete it: Within five seasons, win a major trophy with a starting XI entirely from your chosen nation in the deciding match.
Make it harder: The entire matchday squad must share the nationality by season three.
08 / Constant rebuild · Hard
Sell Your Best Player
Start with: A top-flight club with enough quality to rebuild after losing a star.
The rules
- At the opening of each summer window, identify your highest-overall permanent senior player using the rating displayed that day. If tied, choose the highest displayed value, then alphabetical surname.
- Complete their sale before that window closes. You may negotiate, but cannot reject every offer to avoid the rule.
- Do not buy or borrow that player back during the challenge. If no sale completes, record that season as a failed attempt rather than silently skipping the rule.
Complete it: Win your top-flight league within five seasons while completing every required summer sale.
Make it harder: Sell your two highest-overall players every summer.
09 / Seasonal budget · Hard
The £5 Million Rebuild
Start with: A club below the top division in a league system with promotion.
The rules
- Spend at most £5m in total on incoming transfer and loan fees per season. This is a seasonal limit, not £5m for every player.
- Include agreed add-ons and swap-player values. Sales do not increase your cap, and unused allowance does not carry over.
- Free agents and academy promotions are allowed. Wages and signing bonuses still need to fit your club’s budget.
Complete it: Reach the top flight within five seasons.
Make it harder: Use a £1m total seasonal transfer cap.
10 / Mixed ages · Medium
Youth vs Experience
Start with: A club with both young prospects and an experienced core.
The rules
- Only sign players aged 21 or younger, or 32 or older, when they arrive. The same limits apply to loans and free agents.
- Existing players aged 22–31 can stay. Eligible signings may age naturally without forcing a sale.
- Academy promotions are allowed. Plan your trophy attempt around players who still satisfy the age groups on matchday.
Complete it: Within five seasons, win a main domestic or continental cup final with at least four players aged 21 or younger and four aged 32 or older in the starting XI.
Make it harder: Use that four-young, four-veteran starting-XI split in every competitive match from season two.
Your end-of-season check
- Record your league finish, cup results and season number.
- Check each new arrival against the age, nationality or recruitment restriction.
- For budget saves, total fees and agreed add-ons; count a swap player at their displayed value when the deal was agreed.
- Note any broken rule honestly. Restart, or carry on as a relaxed save without claiming the strict challenge.
- Save a screenshot of your squad and result when you complete the target.
A “major trophy” here means a top-flight league, the main domestic cup or a continental club competition. Super cups, friendly tournaments and pre-season trophies do not count. Season one is the season your save begins.
These challenges are self-managed. The website does not track progress or enforce rules inside the game. Adjust an unworkable rule before starting and record your variation.
